Also known as Pha Ngan, this is a magnificent island located in the Gulf of Thailand. The rainy season in Koh Phangan starts in May and ends in November/December. And we will tell you why you must visit this place even during monsoon.
The backpackers really love this place for the cheap prices and the amazing atmosphere. And make sure to check out the Full Moon Party if you end up on this life-changing island. By the way, the world-famous Ko Samui is located just a bit to the south.
The Wettest And The Driest Months
Yes, it’s a pretty long one, and there’s enough rainfall to make you feel like you’re on a tropical island. At the same time, the Feb-April period (or even starting as early as December) is very much enjoyable. Without a doubt, November is the wettest month. So, if you skip it (and probably October as well), you’ll be fine.
On the other hand, March is incredibly dry, and so is April. December is the coolest time of the year, while April is the hottest one. That doesn’t mean that you’ll freeze to death or anything like that 🙂
The Benefits Of The Rainy Season In Koh Phangan
Speaking of hot and cold, the average temperature on this island is always high. The peaks reach 30-32 degrees Celsius. The lows never drop below 20 degrees. On average, you’ll get 6-8 hours of sunshine during the day. That’s also true for the rainy season in Koh Phangan. The sea temperatures are always comfortable and hang around the 28-30 degrees mark.
Summing up, it’s safe to say that you’ll have the time of your life on this island. True, it is a bit challenging when the monsoon months start. However, if you know your way around the weather, you’ll get to enjoy the wet period as well.
